Cancer is a life-threatening disease worldwide. It's one of the leading causes of death across the globe. It grows within us. An uncontrolled cell growth mass in nearly any body part can be cancer.
Tumors are not common in young adults, but there are chances. A wide variety of cancers occur in adults between the age of 20 and 39. Treating such cancers can be challenging.
Most common types of cancers in younger adults
Breast cancer: It is the most common cancer in women. It is rarely diagnosed before the age of 30.
Common sign: a new lump in the breast, often harder and painless. Sometimes cancer may be painful, soft, and tender in appearance.
There will be changes in the nipples and thickening of the skin. A fluid other than milk discharges through the nipple.
Lymphomas: It will affect our lymph nodes or lymph tissues. The tonsil and thymus are the most affected organs. Weight loss, weakness, fever, and small lumps near the lymph nodes under the skin are the common symptoms.
Thyroid cancer: This will affect our thyroid gland. Old-age people are riskier and most common in females than males.
Pain or swelling in the cervical region and breathing issues are the signs.
Melanomas: A most common type of skin cancer common in old age and rarely found in young adults. It can be treated early but, if left untreated, can spread into other areas.
Sarcomas: Osteosarcoma (bone cancer) and Ewing’s sarcoma commonly develop in young adults. There will be severe pain in the bone which gets worse at night. Swelling around the bone is a common sign.
Testicular cancer: it develops in young men. The first symptom will be a lump on the testicle which swells and become large. Most testicular cancers can be cured.
Brain tumor: Chronic headaches, nausea, vomiting, blurred or double vision, seizures, and dizziness are the common symptoms of brain tumors. Chances are there to remove this tumor if diagnosed early.
